Demand on Electricity Issues
The North American Electric Reliability Council released it’s annual report on the status of the Unites States energy production and the outcome is not good. It is probably not suprising, however, that the report calls for some infrastructure changes and more compliance to standards and regulations. The influx of people to populated areas is straining the supply vs demand issues for energy which is easily seen on those hot days in the northeast and midwest where blackouts occur due to everyone using electricity for air conditioners. The problem, reported in the report has several causes including lack of a well defined infrastructure that can grow with the increase in demand as well as comply with regulations to insure constant supply, even during peak hours. The report is just a list of what any energy expert already knows, the need for energy is constantly growing and there is congestion and a lack of growth because of insufficient transmission capacity and the competitive market.
