"First of all, do not be confused by the word Super quiet for Honda EU3000is. Lots of generators will use terms like this just to sell generators. I have not found one generator that is very quiet. Most sound like an air conditioner although there are some liquid cooled ones that are very decent. The Honda EU3000is can get very load depending on what’s plugged into it. I love that fact that you can combine the same Honda portable generators, like two EU3000is together. The electric start and simultaneous AC/DC use really come in handy. You actually get a lot of power for the fuel consumption too. What I don't like is with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,999.95 they could at least throw in the wheel kit and DC Charging Cord. Come on Honda, these generators are heavy."

I have 12 different generators and the only ones that even come close to being this quiet are the two smaller Honda (1000w and 2000) units. Couldn't hear it on my back patio over the TV and fan unless made a point to listen for it. "The name Honda always impresses customers. They are good units, but they are not the best units in terms how clean the current is. One thing they are is made in China like others, but they are very expensive, compare and see, I have 20 of them and 20 of the Kipor being used on a daily basis and now trying other brands (cheaper that do the job) We had 5 Honda's quit on us, 2 of the Kipor. Price is similar, but for us having 40 of them, so far more than twice of the Honda's have failed on us than the Kipor!! Buy 2000W if you want quiet units, you cannot expect them to make 6.5HP engines run and not produce any noise, unless they would incorporate a frequency device into the muffler which exists to eliminate the noise, but would you pay an extra 2000$ for a unit that is 2000$ already? If you do you maintenance at regular intervals it will last just fine, most likely longer than the same unit used for a couple of days then left to sit on the shelf for a few months. That being said a lot of factors come into play. ie/ load levels are you operating it near the ocean(salt air is about the worst for them) are you at high altitude(thin air tend to make them run leaner, Is it run in transit(shaking the unit while it is running is hard on the oil system ie. running it while your RV is moving) I have the 3000is and it has been running fine on the job sites for about 1 and a half years 3-5 days a week 6-7 hours a day"

"Over 17,000 hours on mine. Yup. Love it. Only shut down for service (oil change etc.) I fill it while running. I change oil every 125 hour as it stays plenty clean. At oil change always always always drain carb to remove water in bowl. Also extremely important... Clean spark arrestor every 3-6 months sometimes more depending on quality of fuel. If spark arrestor clogged your machine will not run. Sorry all, but if you have ever been near any operating generator you would not say that this unit is loud. Perhaps you all should just leave the juice at home when you are out car camping. For the life of my I can not imagine lugging a 70 pound + generator to my local KOA. Ever here of an inverter? They cost about one tenth of the price, and your car battery should powere everything you need for your weekend beer drinking. Hope this helps. Also this is my second eu3000. "Best generator for the money. Incredibly reliable and you can trust it to power your expensive household electronics. The Honda EU3000is has gotten my family and me through several power outages. Perfect size and output for running the basics like refrigeration, lighting, radio, tv, and mobile phone chargers. Other neighbors' generators can be heard several blocks away, but you can walk up to my house and can't tell that I have a generator running in the backyard. And it's amazing how little fuel this machine needs. With a medium power load for over six straight hours during a post-storm outage last week, it only used one gallon of gas. "I use my Honda EU3000is for house power to an off-grid home with a well that pumps water to feed several goats, a flock of wild turkeys, countless chickens, and an outdoor/indoor plant & tree nursery, supplementing about 600 watts of solar and about 300 watts of windmill power. This is the first generator I've ever owned or used, so I don't have any gnarly ones to compare it to, but I will say this: This is a really fine generator. In the winter-time when solar power is low, but water needs are also low, I run it perhaps 6 hours daily to fully charge the house batteries and pump water to the livestock. In the hottest part of the summer, it runs day and night with very few breaks, keeping the water spread out over 5 acres of greenhouses, trees, and animals, as well as charging the house, running a washing machine and any needed power tools, and generally being just extremely useful."

"I have had the EU3000I for over 6 years and would buy another one without question. How long will it last . . . I use mine for about 100 hours per month, 5 months a year. So with 3000 running hours, it has been extremely reliable with one exception which was my fault. Hidden under the tail piece of the exhaust is a spark arrestor. It recommended service interval is every 100 hours. I ran mine without cleaning the arrestor for 5 years, until I developed an issue in which it would not rev up under power. I first replaced the carberator (my best guess of the cause) for $60. Wasn't the issue, but now I have a spare. When your unit begins to skip a little, clean the spark arrestor. I have always run synthetic motor oil and do regular changes. I wish they had an oil filter built into these engines. The inverter life is dependent on load placed on it and the method. For example, not turning off the econothrottle and starting a microwave from an idling inverter shortens the life. Always turn off (rev up) the motor prior to placing a significant load on the unit. Small loads are easily handled by the throttle. With regard to some of the posts relative to noise, I don't understand the realistic expectations of any individual who feels these units make any noise over and above what would be expected. They are the quietest units on the market. I am very happy on how quiet, but since I like to run mine any time, day or night, I built a diamond plate box, air intake seperated from exhaust outlet and encased all hard surfaces with accoustic sound insulation. All together about $1000 more expense, but for me it was worth it. You do not have to go to this effort for normal sound dampening as it is very quiet to begin with. I also tapped into the wiring harness to allow for remote start, stop and eco-throttle. I put 3 control areas throughout my RV so I could control or shut it down regardless if I was in the bath, kitchen, or bedroom."
