Iowa is in the 4,500 to 5,000 range throughout most of the state for flat-plate solar collectors which makes the state a good source for this
type of solar power. Like many states in the heartland however, Iowa is below average when it comes to providing enough power using concentrating solar collectors. With
most of the state viable for flat-plate collectors, Iowa's solar resource is still good.
