Wal-mart is a giant retailer that operates world wide and has a big responsibility as well in the environmental world. It is a good sign that the giant corporation has setup two experimental stores, one in McKinney, TX and the other in Aurora, CO which use different methods of energy production including solar power. The store use polycrystalline photovoltaic laminates in the garden center and thin film and crystalline photovoltaic laminates on the outer areas of the store to get the most out of the solar power. These stores are good signs of possible things to come and could lead to other corporations taking the same measurements. Wal-mart has also been in the news with a RFP to solar companies for possible larger scale projects. Hopefully the company will follow through with the initiative and implement solar power at it’s main headquarters like Google or even across all of it’s stores.
